Winter Essential

For my main winter piece I really like the idea of layering a shirt under a chunky knit jumper with skinny jeans and casual style boots with socks.  For warmth, comfort and style.  Today I bought myself a chunky knit jumper which caught my eye in the shop Deep Clothing.

This picture doesn't really do the colour any justice so I have included a close up of the pattern and colour:
More of this outfit to come when it has cooled down enough to wear it!!  The price was £22 not bad.

Red Block

In this outfit I try to draw attention to the jumper.

Here is a list of the clothes and accessories I am wearing:
Red & White Stripe Jumper:  H&M - £15
Super Skinny Jeans: H&M - £25
Cross Double Finger Ring: Topman - £1

Outfit Total: £41

First Post + New York Trip

Hello Blog world, this is Boy about Towns first post! Well as this posts title suggests I recentley visited New York, it was a truly unforgetable experience and one that will stay with me forever, infact it made so much of an impression on me that I want to visit again!  Everything about the city was magical and it is exactly how it is portrayed on film and television, I went with my mum who is one of my best friends (shhh she doesn't know it).  After arriving at the hotel (may I add located on central park south, we're  sex in the city girls!) both tired and bedraggled from the 12 hour flight delayed because of none other than President Obama! we slept the evening.  Awaking refreshed on the first day a walk down 5th avenue was in order, there are endless shops such as Armani, Versace, Louis Vuitton and many others (MY PARADISE), I found these absolute beauties in the window of Versace, might I add with the price tag of only $1600!
After the stroll down 5th Av. we climbed 70 stories (in an elevator!) to the Top of the Rock, Where you could see a panoramic view of Manhattan and beyond, truly amazing!.  After that we visited the MoMA or Musuem of Modern Art, which was really interesting and housed some iconic pieces such as Andy Warhol and Van Gogh originals, I especially enjoyed the Talk to Me exhibition which was about how  humans interact with each other via technology and other mediums, my favourite piece is pictured belowm it shows the very funny journey people make on Facebook when stalking someone (there is no shame we all do it ;)).
In the afternoon we had a walk through Central Park and saw many unique sights such as numerous buskers one of whom was very attractive he was gorgeous!!, bubble makers and even a wedding being held, I visited the strawberry fields memorial which was cool.   Dinner was had at the Plaza Food Hall Hotel, I ordered Pork Ramen which was delicious, and as a side note got served vodka and soda and i'm only 18, scoreeeeeeeeeeeee!
Day 2 came and first in our sights was Bloomingdales department store, which I have to say was beautifully decorated in art deco style, I bought these cute little chocolates, which were however unfortunatley crushed on the flight home :( they still tasted good though.
I also bought myself a pair of Skinny Levi 510's for only £30, a major undercut on British Prices as in Eldon Square they're £80.  A quick subway ride later we were at the MMA or Metropolitan Musuem of Art another extremely interesting visit which was more for Art Deco and Ancient art than Modern, my favourite piece in the musuem was a pair of bracelets worn by the ancient roman women elite, they depict 2 half human half serpent bodies, and each weighs a whopping 6 pounds!

Next on the agenda was Time Square;  Tv screens are in every possible direction setting the "square" ablaze with light and colour, because it was raining so heavily we decided that we would eat at one of the restaurants on the square, known as "Bubba Gump" this place takes it's name from the movie Forest Gump and is about as American Diner style as you could get.  The best part about the whle meal was the Quay Lime pie, yum!

On the morning of the third day we took the subway to Grand Central Terminal, the only place in New York where you can see the stars (not literally) for those who don't know the ceiling is decorated with the zodiac signs. As you would expect it was crazy busy with people commuting to work and tourists everywhere.  Midday came around and we found ourselves in Greenwich village, this place is amazing! So many fashion and boutique stores it's also where they filmed famous sitcoms such as Friends and Sex and the City, I was even more excited by the prospect of returning the next evening for the fashion event of the year FNO (fashions night out), where every shop has its own party with free champagne and the works.  After exploring the "village" for a good few hours, we headed back down 5th av, where in the window of Cole Haan I found the most beautiful pair of mens brogues, unfotunatley I tried them on; perfect fit, but it was one of those moments where I realised I have nothing to wear them with :( so I had to leave empty handed, although when I return they shall be mine!

On the morning of day 4 we visited the Lady of Liberty herself and Ellis Island, these were both really interesting attractions although a tad bit "touristy", but heyho.  In the afternoon we walked accross the Brooklyn Bridge which was really exciting, after a starbucks and a rest we headed back to the hotel to refresh and prepare for FNO!!! We headed to Soho a vibrant and cutural place unlike any I had ever been to before, shops bustling and music blaring we hit the town, I got my hands on a Tommy Hilfiger zip top with fur lining, beautiful and useful for those cold days at university.  Free champagne from Armani and a sneak peak at their autumn collection was a great bonus!

The last day arrived :( and in the morning we visited the Ground Zero musuem, heavy and touching stuff.  Walking down Broadway in the hot sun of the New York afternoon we came into contact with many fashion retailers and quirky shops, stopping at Tani to buy a pair of shoes after a refreshing coffee in a French CafĂ© was really relaxing.  Late afternoon and we visited the American Musuem of Natural History which was interesting to say the least! I found the space center to be the best part purely because I love physics :).

After that it was sadly time to collect our bags and get to the airport, however the memories of New York will stay with me forever and yes it's corny but now I can truly say;
